Project 1
Project 1 was to develop a prototype for a 3-bedroom
1,700 SF dwelling with a service life of 500
years. We were also to implement modular building
system for the construction of the dwelling. This
was a group project, the final submission was to be a
report, 5 drawings, and a model.
The first task was to find recycled material that
could be repurposed as building material, and do a
report on the practical use. My Group agreed on
thermoplastics;
The group
then had to come up with a floor plan, Power Point presentation with materials,
and a model
showing the modular construction. We proposed 2 options,
1- Blocks
similar to CMU but with interlocking blocks, with the
use of specialized blocks in some locations.
2- Pre-built
walls and roof components with similar specialized
blocks.
