Architectural Design III
The objective of Architectural Design 3 has two main
parts
The first is to understand and apply
complex contextual issues in architecture design;
1)
Develop methods of data collection and analysis to aid
in
programing and design process.
2)
Develop the ability to make a comprehensive analysis
and
evaluation of a building.
3)
Develop an ability to give a rational explanation for
design
ideas and practices.
4)
Develop the ability to apply constraints into the
development of the program and design of the project.
5)
Develop the ability to apply basic organization,
spatial,
structural, and construction concepts and constraints
for
the development of interior and exterior spaces, and
building elements.
The second is to compile portfolio material for the
use in architecture design;
1)
Use drawing and model-making to
convey architectural
concepts using professional conventions for presentation
for post-college employment
2)
Develop the ability to speak and
write effectively concerning
architectural concepts through the examination of specific
building types.
3)
Learn to work with members of a
design team through
progressive project contexts.
A group
project with the purpose of creating an innovation district program for a
10-acre site in
Levittown,
NY. We were hired to plan an innovation district in Levittown, NY that will
serve as
a catalyst
for veterans, providing veteran support facilities, collaborative work space
with an
exhibition/conference
space, and residential live-work opportunities for veterans establishing
businesses. (Click link for Project 1)
Project 2
was to design a response to the program developed in Project 1, groups were
paired off
to exchange
programs. The project called for the schematic design of the site, workplace,
exhibit/
conference
space, and the support facility. The buildings were to become an icon and focal
point
for the
Levittown veterans innovation district. This was to be
done with collaboration from the
clients
representative (a person from the other group) for specific information on the
clients
preferences.
A second addition to the project was to relocation the Veterans Memorial park
from
assignment 2
onto the site. (Click link for Project 2)
The purpose of the assignments was to help with the
development of skills and knowledge that
could be used on the projects. (Click
