Project III Light: Form & Order Maker

1.  Idea Formation

-       Narrative

SUNY Farmingdale State College wants to build a proposed non-denominational chapel on the campus. The college wants this chapel to be a place that people can worship and reflect on life events. The college required us to select a location for the chapel and make sure it will be integrated into the fabric of the campus. They also want the light to be the main characteristic of the chapel, using the natural light to light up the chapel. The chapel has to include a Main Sanctuary which can contains 50 people, a Memorial Side Chapel, and a Meditation Side Chapel. The Main Sanctuary is going to capture the morning light, the Memorial Side Chapel is going to capture the noon light, and the Meditation Side Chapel is going to capture the evening light.

3.  Preliminary Ideas

The Main Sanctuary is going to capture the morning light, the Memorial Side Chapel is going to capture the noon light, and the Meditation Side Chapel is going to capture the evening light. The reason why I decide to put the chapel there is because there is no other building that can block any sunlight come in.
