Preliminary design

The form of the building due to the sun:

The moves in an orbite direction from east to south-east to south to south-west then to west at the end of the day, wich make the building to follow these orientation. That changed the chapells from being 3 pies of pitzas into 3 curved shape that seems to be as a flower considering the shape. The height needed to act in a way that the wester chapel collect the south light which make it need to be the heighest. The sanctuary chapel in mid-height to clect the ester light, and the south-easter chapel to colect the wester light.

Site celection:

The chapels are have a spiritual function which make it need to be close to the social, student life, and residential areas in compus. Also it needs to be in connection with circulation to reach it easilly. That’s why it is right between the doorms and the compus center, and it is by that circulation. Another reason made me select that site is to be right by the heart of the original circulation.

Contextual conflict:

There was the conflict of orientation of the building which need to respect the 45 degrees north-east contectual orientated, also the conflict of catching the sun light which is mostly 0 degrees south orientated. The solution is to orientate the offices areas and the open area as the contextual orientation, and orientate the chapel as a cured semi circle to catch the sun light as it orbites during the day.

Fundamental ordering concept:

Circulation is linear as it start from the entrance of the lobby until it reach the joint to chapel, then it become radial in order to pick eather chapel that a person may like to go to. Interaction is seen on sanctuary chapel using half wall and columns wich make it connected to the other two chapels.
