Narrative:
Mr. and Miss have decided to add an
extension on to the existing house. They have a large family but while their
children go off to college they have new wants and needs in the house. Mr. Smith
is a gym enthusiast and enjoys his family time. Ms. Smith is sad that her
children are moving on in their lives but still wants a comfortable setting for
them to come back and visit. She wants a very large family room to accommodate
this. Both clients agreed that they wanted the master bedroom to face the water
and have a nice view. Mr. Smith has a wide collection of military metals from
his grandfather and past family. He would like to somehow use the theme of a
shadow box to remember them. Also both
Mr. and Ms. Smith want to keep a similar look to the new additive so it doesn’t
look out of place.

Connection
Analogy: The connection analogy that is used was a joint. Using a
cylinder I connected the old to the new.
Existing
Systems Used or transformed: I used several different things to
tie the addition into the original structure. First I continued the line of
columns with a slight bend towards the water to hold up the new structure. The
original stair case was repeated twice. All windows followed the same pattern
with a large window then a small thin one. Another system used over again was
keeping large windows in the front and small windows in the back.
