Farmingdale State College is missing a religious impact on their students. This upcoming fall semester there will be three chapels. Which are the Main Sanctuary, Memorial Side Chapel and Meditation Side Chapel.

Meta Idea

My idea involves capturing the most natural sunlight, then releasing it with my control. I focused a lot on light tunnels that run through the ceilings of the chapels, and also vertical tunnels that release light slightly through small openings. I related those curves to the wings of a bat.

Inspiration

Giovanni Lorenzo Bernini was inspired me to try hidden spotlights, that aren’t recognizable on the outside of the building or on the inside. Great way to shine a spotlight on a sculpture and use natural sunlight.
