During
this project there were several ideas and possibilities under consideration
Bridge Concepts
-Cable-Stay Bridge
This type of bridge
system utilizes a single stretch of road way combined with diagonal taut cables.
Characteristics are good axial tension loads, as well as poor compression.
These in particular over the years are becoming preferred over suspension
bridges.
-Truss bridge
This
type of bridge uses multiple triangulated members to give it support. The shape
for this specific type is narrow at the ends, and getting larger at the top.
-Arch Bridge
The arch, similarly to the truss, uses triangulated
members for strength. The only difference is it’s wider starting base, with a
thinner top.
Mechanical
Functions
-Gears
Gears or cogs help transfer movement to various
different functions.
-Hinges
Hinges
hold two separate things together in order to make them one unified object.
-Pulleys
Help make multiple parts such as gears move at the
same time.
