Light Analysis

For this project I researched the Unity Temple designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Built in the early 1900’s

it is a perfect example of indirect lighting in a building. From the outside it would appear to be bland,

however the very outside helps bring light in.

From the section this can be seen more easily. The Columns from the outside create spaces which

Let the light enter from up high. The ledges above these help prevent the same light from hitting the

Floor. The ceiling has multiple skylights which bring in natural light. The pyramidal roof also diffuses

The ligh and make the effect even more subtle.

One of the more interesting buildings I admired was the Riola Parish Church. The noticable

feature I looked toward for inspiration was the scoops for light, with the combonation of

visible structure being struck by the light.

Light Machines

During this process I made light machines in order to see for myself just how light behaves.

By doing this it helps make the formation of ideas for articulations more easy.
