CIRCULATION

Concept and Theory

Make five spaces along a path for both the site and building.  Fit the program functions with in these spaces.  You may add additional functions if you feel they have been left out of the program .  Please do not design a real yacht club.

Problem

A newly formed yacht club has asked you to design their club house and facilities on the shore of Long Island Sound. The club specifically wants to take advantage of the views of the sound and the distant Connecticut shore. In addition the Yacht Club holds a yearly, season opening, Commissioning and blessing of the Fleet and Club. This ceremony includes a processional from the road to the water. The following is a list of program requirements:

1. BUILDING: approx. 1,500 S.F.

A. Lobby, 100 S.F.
B. Great Room 800 S.F.
C. Eating Area 800 S.F.
D. Bar area 300 S.F.
E. Kitchen 300 S.F.
F. Toilet & Lavatory, 150 S.F. each men and women.
G. Shower Rooms, 150 S.F. each new and women.
H. Other functions as required

2. DECK: approx. 750 S.F. min.
3. DOCK: approx. 500 - 1,000 lineal feet min.
4. Other functions as required

The dock is to be a minimum of 8 feet wide. Provide a small dock house building.

5. PARKING: approx. 13,000 S.F. min.

Provide parking for 40 cars. Each space shall be 10' x 20' with an isle of 25 feet.
Do not design the parking lot, thing of it as an object area in a space.
