Arch Bridge – A bridge that has a circular feature. Its characteristics are that at its base the bridge tends to be very wide and then narrows as you reach its crest.

Cantilever Bridge – A bridge that extends over a span having only one end supported. These Bridges have the ability to span long distances and are typically easier to construct.

Suspension Bridges – A bridge that utilizes large cables wound together that are connected to towers at each end. Vertical cables are then hung from the large cables down to the road deck.

Truss Bridge – Being one of the oldest and most common bridges theses bridges are the simplest of all bridges. Being connected on both sides the structure used a method of creating triangular shapes ranging in size as needed. Truss bridges are typically the same size throughout the entire span of the bridge.

Cable Stay Bridge – These bridges are the newest and most innovative bridges of all. Characteristics of almost all bridges can be found in this bridge. It utilizes a tall vertical cantilever tower that is used to attach tensioned cable that support the road structure.
