Narrative:

The Smith family loves to spend time together as a whole family. They like to do various activities together such as watching TV or playing games in the family room. The Smiths also enjoy the family room because it is open and has a great view of the long island sound. They feel that the family room really brings the family together because it makes them happy and comfortable. Because of this, their favorite place to be is in the family room.

Their second favorite place is the formal outdoor area. The Smiths wanted to have a deck to get a better view of the long island sound. The deck also allows for more family bonding such as having partys and family BBQs. Even though this is a great place to be for the family it does not offer the same comfort feeling as the family room.

Systems Used in Both New and Existing Buildings

I used the same circulation system and structural system from the existing building, but with a 30 degree rotation. A datum was used to represent the circulation and connects the new and existing building, and I used columns to support the formal outdoor area.
