Architectural
Project 2
Objective
The Smith Family has
commissioned you to design an addition to their house on the shore of Long
Island Sound. The original house, designed in 1965 by architect Richard Meier,
has been widely published and is internationally known. Unfortunately, the
owners needs have change since the original design, thereby warranting this
architectural intervention. The owner specifically requests that the integrity
of the original design be respected, yet the new addition should have its own

Narrative
The Xavier family has
recently moved into the Smith house in order to have more space than their city
apartment as their previous home didn’t allow them to have enough room for
anything. They realized that the house needs some improvements so that it can
have the space that their desire so they have asked for an addition to the
house that includes a family room, master bedroom, a deck, and a gym. The
family room is the most important as they want it to be a place where the
entire family can relax, to host events, and have space for plants. The family
room should also have access to a deck so that they can have a great view of
the coast.
