Direct light is bright, intense and white while reflected light is dimmer and can be similar to what object it bounces off of.
Light will reflect off opaque objects while transparent objects will allow light to pass through.

3-D light sketch model / machine

My light machine uses a total of 3 hole around the exterior. One on the left, one on the right and one on top.

Under the top hole is a de-elevated platform that is larger than the opening to help dissipate the light amongst the ceiling. The length of the hole allows for sun to enter the model at different point within the day

On each of the insides is an angled light reflector to bounce incoming horizontal light up to light up the corresponding walls at the begging and ending of each day
Narrative, ranking and sorting

“You have been selected to design a proposed non-denominational chapel located on the campus of SUNY Farmingdale. The College wants this to be a profoundly spiritual place that people of all faiths can worship and reflect on life’s events. The College believes this can be achieved by the creative use of light. The College has outlined a preliminary program that is listed below. A site has yet to be selected on campus; the College is looking for guidance from the Architect. The building should be integrated into the fabric of the campus. The College explicitly requests the design not be symmetrical.”
