1: Form & Function
Project
Statement:
For centuries, the
relationship between form and function has been has been a centralized theme
throughout architecture. Whether or not the building form should convey its function
or if it should be liberated of its function is what architects debate.
This project looks into
the affiliation between form and function in the design process &
encourages the awareness of truth and promotes the subjective visual of functional
beauty. I had to create a pedestrian bridge that spans across a waterway that iss 190 feet across, 10 feet deep and 12 feet wide without
building into the water. It also had to move a section of the road bed in a way
that would allow a ship 30 feet wide and clear a height of 40 feet from the
base of the waterway floor.
