Introduction:

The pure whiteness, Geometric forms with big windows. An artificial object fit perfectly around natural environment.

This is a characteristic of his first house design. His perspective of space and the technic of mixing nature/artificial

Elements has become a reference of study on the modern architecture.

Location:

The house is located at Darien, Connecticut. Sitting on a hillside, on the edge of water facing the Long island sound.

Design Concept:

Site:

A flourish sloping hill on the edge of waterfront. The riches of the nature elements provide a great attraction

to the people that are experiencing the environment.

 

Entrance:

Walking From the parking garage alone the small path with surrounding natural environment to the distinctly

white object with limited openings which create the feeling of mysterious and solitude.


Circulation:

The house basically separated into two parts. The south which is facing the water view that has an open visual

with gathering purposes area. And the other half of the house host spaces with more privacy and individuals.

 

Structure:

It is often thought, mistakenly, that this house was built in concrete. But in fact, it was made of wood beams.

The chimney is brick pillars and metallic interiors. Massive wall structures for the private area. And the high

column structures for the open gathering spaces.
