There is a principle in modern architecture that states "Form follows function."
The principle is that the shape of a building or object should be primarily based upon its intended function or purpose.
For this project, the object is a bridge and the function is the opening and closing movement to allow boats to cross through.
Therefore, to follow the principle, the shape of the bridge must have a transformation depending on the mechanism for the movement.
For my project, I have selected gear rotation as the mechanism and I have inspired on the shape of a fairs wheel to give shpe to the mechanism.
This circular mechanism transformed the structure of the bridge by making the trusses to generate from the center of the mechanism out.
