How light
influenced the building
The way light
travels influenced the buildings curvy shapes. Only the buildings that do not
require natural light have straight walls.
I got my ideas from
buildings like corbusier’s Notre dame chapel. The curved walls let light travel
through the walls with a very natural flow to give off a very subtle and calm
lighting.
The lighting in
my building is kept to a minimum to make it have a hazy like atmosphere. I
believe that atmosphere in my chapel is what makes it unique.
This is the main
chapels roof. As you can see in this section, light comes in from the top and
flows through the round like shape of the roof and bounces to the other round
shape of the roof. This permits light to come in at noon, when the sun is
directly above in the sky, and does not let the light hit the ground making it
a nuisance for worshipers.
With this light
cannon, light comes in from the small hole, and spreads through the larger tube
and hits a round bowl like platform at its base sending the light back to the
ceiling, illuminating it slightly.
