Unity Temple was an interesting project for Frank Lloyd Wright. He
usually made his architecture work flow with nature. However, Unity Temple was
downtown on the corner of 2 busy roads. Therefore the project had to bring
natural light into the religious building without over illuminating the space
and still block out the noise from the streets outside. In order to accomplish
this task, Wright created a light scheme that included high windows to flow the
light down softly into the space as well as many skylights. The skylights had
colored glass in them so as to turn the bright light into more nature colored
light to enter the space.
