Bridge Project
Purpose: Form and function are the two main concepts in the bridge
project. The function is the movement of the bridge, which will allow the
opening and closing of the roadway. The reason for this is to allow boats to navigate
safely through a 30ft wide by 40ft high passage way. Therefore, the shape of
the bridge must have a transformation to allow this movement. The
transformation came from existing bridges (arch, cable stay, and truss) and
inspiration from common object around the house (clothes line pulley and door
hinge).
