Conceptual
Ideas
Narrative:
The
idea for this project is to create an addition to the smith house that still
holds the same architectural style the original architect Richard Meier gave this
project over fifty years ago but also have its own identity. The need for this
project is because the family’s needs have changed since the original design
and there in need of more space so there family can grow without changing
homes.

Meta
Idea:
My idea for this project was to make an addition to the smith house that
would give the house a look of being a target/ bulls eye when looking at the
house from above and also hold the same systems
that Richard Meier used over fifty years ago. These systems include
addictive/subtractive features, a hierarchy (social ranking of functions),
public and private spaces as well as enclosure. Even thou the addition possess
many of his qualities, I have altered them by using a circle shape as the
connecting piece on the addition so it has its own presence but still be
similar. I have grown fond of the additive/subtractive process and feel that it
is what gives my addition its shape. As for the other processes it ties
addition to the existing to give it a sense as if it was part of the original.
