Prototype Concept and Movement

This project is based around the notion of form and function. The goal of this project was to transform a bridge prototype design concept into a new design that can function with movement, creating a 30 foot wide by 40 foot high opening for boats. This project started with creating basic drawings of our prototypes, and the prototype was continuously transformed into a new design. The design of my bridge allows for a boat to pass through if needed by a system of pulleys and counter weights, lifting and lowering a span of the bridge. The counter weights drop down as the road bed is pulled up, sliding along a track to keep stability.�
