Overview and Assignment:

The Smith House designed by Richard Meier is an example of great modern American architecture. Like many of Meier's works it consists of many clean white walls and large windows to hide and display the buildings characteristics.

Since 1965 when the building was first designed there have been many changes in the everyday life, and so the spaces of the building must adapt to the ever changing functions to still be relevant.

The current owners of the Smith House have a new need for the following:

a Master Suite, an Exercise Room, a Family Room, and a Formal Outdoor Area

As the designer I must integrate these new spaces in to the original building creating a new, unique presence for them while still respecting Meier's original design concepts.
