Selection:

I decided to design a truss bridge that incorporated all the elements that were discussed in my 3x3 table; a hinge, pulleys and gears. By choosing to make the roadbed lift using a hinge and pulleys and retracting the lower truss rails using a motor and gears I have created a interesting yet feasible solution to the problem.
