FINAL DEVELOPMENT
FORM & FUNCTION: Elegantly and harmonically
combine form and function into a single entity; where form as well as function
is not only unique but complementary to each other.
TRUSS | GEARS | HINGE |HYDRAULICS| SLIDE. FINAL
DEVELOPMENT
The truss (190 ft span) rises along a cantilever
structural member by using gears and tracks to keep the movement smooth and
aligned as it travels
Up and down simultaneously allowing for a
30 ft by 40 ft opening. The truss rotates on a hinge which is located across
the cantilever arm. Because
of this point rotation the cantilever arm
changed from a straight vertical structure to a curved structural since the
radius is the truss itself and
it does not elongate. The hinge point took
higher elevation to place the observation space and to counter act the reactant force created by the
rotating weight.
