Narrative
The State University of Farmingdale is in need of a
non-denominational chapel for all religions located on their campus.
The site is well integrated into the original campus
orientation and circulation; as it is located at the end of a path stringing
directly off of the main circle. The
chapel needs to incorporate a creative usage of indirect light; creative yet
efficient.
Through the use of light machines, the chapel will be filled
with light indirectly, and ominously. The light will be broadcasted
in a way that is also a
metaphor to religious figures themselves. It will contain a lobby area,
offices, a main sanctuary,
a secondary memorial chapel,
and a secondary meditation chapel.
